Make New Friends.........

Come on! If you were a Girl Scout......you know you know that song! "Make new friends, but keep the old...one is silver and the other gold". Believe it or not, that is exactly what I have done!

When I started this blog, I had no idea how much I would enjoy it. I just wanted a creative outlet for the many different emotions I felt about marriage, kids, work, friends, religion...(YOU GET THE IDEA) I never really thought about making friends online. I have plenty of wonderful friends in "real life". However, now I can add another name to that list! A few months ago, I stumbled across a blog that really touched my heart. Matthew's Blog is a family's amazing tribute to a precious little boy born with a congenital heart defect. I was moved by this family's deep love for their son, as well as the battle they have been forced to fight with medical insurance.

Let me just say, it opened my eyes to how easily people can lose EVERYTHING when faced with a medical catastrophe. You need to go and read about what this family has been through and the steps they are taking to help other families like them.

Also, that is where I first "met" Terri. Terri is Matthew's mom. I could tell immediately she was a woman after my own heart! Girlfriend may seem like she is channeling June Cleaver, but she's got a little fire to her! ( Just ask her about medical insurance.....you'll see!) We began emailing on practically a daily basis soon afterwards.

After what seemed like an eternity of phone tag, we actually had the chance to speak on the phone. While at first I was terribly nervous that she would find me a blithering idiot, we soon fell into comfortable conversation that felt like we were old friends.

Mr. Mayhem ( in ALL his male glory) could not resist the chance to tease me. When I was regaling him with the details of my conversation, he began to chant.."Queen's got a girlfriend!" While I feel certain Terri and I do not have a romantic future, (hee-hee) I am THRILLED to have made a new friend!

So, finally I am able to join the ranks of so many of you who have posted about fellow bloggers you have met, or at least spoken to on the phone. Who knows what kinds of trouble we could find if I ever make my way up to Nevada! Then again, you might never know because what happens in Vegas....................

Oh my!

I am completely honored!!!!!!
What a wonderful surprise!

Thank you so much for the most generous and kind words... I am humbled.

You just made my entire week...
Thank you Queen... :-)

I had the greatest time chatting with you myself. It was so easy breezy...
I feel like I've known you for years....

I love this blogging world...
it's been so good for me.

I have met THE MOST wonderful, caring, compassionate and loving people.

I have several "live" (you know what I mean) friends, but since I'm homebound 98% of the time...
I rarely see them or speak to them,
my life sure changed 21 months ago.

hence, THE BLOGOSPHERE...
it is my escape! I thank Dan from England, from 0ddness (a zero not an "o")
He got me started about 6 weeks ago.

Again,
thank you from the bottom of my witto heart.

For the record, I have never been a girl scout. I'm not even that fond of girl scout cookies. Therefore, I do not know the song.

Therefore, I think you should sing that song and post it on your blog so I'll know what it sounds like ...

Well I have to be honest. I found Terri on your blogroll and I've already been stalking her. =) I think you're onto something, though. It doesn't take long to figure out what an incredible person she is. And Matthew's blog can just about melt your heart. What fabulous people! I think it's great you've met each other and bonded. And if you visit Vegas you must dish just a little b/c I'll be jealous and angry that I won't be there!!!

I'm with Dorky Dad - I don't know the song and was never allowed to join the girl scouts. Sexual Discrimination at it's finest. Makes me sick!

*ahem*

But you have to watch that Terri... Before you know it, she'll be on your doorstep with a bunny ready to boil..

I LOVE Terri, she's been a wonderful find in the last few weeks...or is it months now? Anyway, she's terrific and reading about Matthew was so terrifying and inspiring and humbling all wrapped into one.

I love girl scout cookies, but they're so expensive. I've tried to make them myself but I never know how many girl scouts to put in.

Terri is great isn't she. And sorry, I was never a girl scout- that's what happens when you grow up with boys instead of girls. :)

I can't tell you all how happy I feel right now...(yes..I'm a very very emotional and sensitive girl).

You are all so wonderful... and so nice... and I'm soo VERY BLESSED.

Who woulda thunk it! That I'd have so many virtual friends on the internet....
it's hearing nice words like that ...
that help keep me going ...

I get to worrying and feeling sorry for myself (and Matthew) sometimes...okay.. A LOT of times....and this is my escape from it all...

This has really helped pick up my spirits...
and has made me teary.

I was just telling my husband about my experiences on the blog...
and about the people I've e~met.

Thank you

Just telling it like it is said...

Yep, Terri is an awesome person!! She's a lesson in strength, that's for sure..

I know the girl scout song you spoke of, but I also remember one about eating worms. I'm not sure that one applies in this instance.

Oh, I am completely jealous. I would love to meet at least one of my new blogging friends if not all. You would right at the top, my dear, so I consider Terri very lucky too! Next time I am in Vegas, look out!

I think we should have a conference in Vegas. At least that's what we'll tell our husbands.

Who would we be without the friends in our lives, both "live" and the ones we only see on a computer screen?

Queen of the Mayhem said...

Terri- I am glad that this made you smile! :)

Butterfly Girl- new friends are always a good thing!

DD- the world is NOT ready for the Queen singing...can you say TONE DEAF?

YER- You don't have to be jealous...if you come along for the ride! :)

Heather- Isn't it amazing how many people out there with whom we have so much in common? I love it!

Dan- I am so sorry for the oppression you suffered at the hands of those evil Girl Scouts! I will keep my eye on Terri....just in case! :)

Carm- LOVE me some GS cookies! I brought 3 boxes today...not good for the MILF diet! Will try desperately to pawn them off on family!

Kevin- could not agree with you more!

Diesel- I think it depends on how many cookies you are trying to bake. I think I read somewhere that it is 2 scouts per dozen

Queen of the Mayhem said...

WC- I am sure that had it pluses as well! You know how girls can be!

Just tellin'- Nothing like baring your soul for the masses to judge! :)

Burg- I forgot about that one! Let's save that one for another post, when I am in a bad mood! :)

Karrie- Any place that leads me to people I like is a good place!

Momish- I feel that same way about you! We could get into some serious trouble!

Sillychick- YES! VEGAS BABY! That's the best idea I've heard all day!
