Earlier last week, both Janet and Paige tagged me for the "Real Moms" meme. Of course, I had to wait until I could sit upright for any length of time without the room spinning before I could oblige my friends' wishes!
It is funny that I was tagged to do this post, because sometimes I feel like the "Anti-Mom" as opposed to a real mom! Then again after reading many blogs, I have realized I am not so different after all!
Real Moms:
Real moms sometime long for the days when their lives were simpler. The days when the most they had to worry about was scrounging up enough money to go out with girlfriends. The days when they came home from work and SAT DOWN on the couch! The days when they washed two loads of laundry A WEEK, fixed only the dinner they wanted to eat, and went to the grocery store only once in a blue moon!
Real moms still crave the excitement felt when their appearance is appreciated by a member, or members, of the opposite sex. Real moms want to be told they are sexy! If it is from someone that is not the man they married..........even better! ( Of course, real moms' husbands are duty bound to compliment their sexiness on a regular basis!)
Real moms dream of lust filled nights of intimacy with their "Baby Daddy". The kinds that are not disturbed by snot-nosed toddlers, tummy aching eight year olds, or talk of potty training of ANY SORT! Nights where a locked door is not met with insistent knocks, fingers sticking under the frame, or disgusted cries on the other side. Nights where volume and location are not an issue. Nights where fun can happen late into the night, without impending early morning wake ups from wiggly, loud, and sometimes hungry little people!
Real moms cook for, clean, heal, love, nurture, discipline, entertain, teach, support, and guide their children on a daily basis.
Real moms hurt when we see our children's shortcomings, struggles, or heartbreaks.
Real moms will fight, literally, to the death for our families.
Real moms drink cocktails and gossip with other real moms.......if only to maintain their sanity!
Real moms have single friends that drag them out from time to time. They wear clothes that are a little tighter or lower cut than their normal attire...... looking for attention. They dance with reckless abandon on a stage in front of, what they are certain are, adoring fans!
Real moms hope their daughters don't make quite as many mistakes as they did while growing up.
Real moms are human, and therefore make mistakes from time to time. They sometimes lose their tempers too quickly. They sometimes say the wrong thing.
Real moms struggle with guilt, uncertainty, and sometimes fear when it comes to making the tough decisions about their children.
Finally, real moms love their families with every particle of their beings. There is nothing that a real mom will not do for her family. Superman does not hold a candle to the strength of a real mom!

29 Knelt before the Queen:
Oh! Just love it.
Thank you for playing!
That was wonderful and oh SO True!!!!
I love it. When I read you and how real you are I just sit and hope that I can be as good as you when my little girl arrives.
I love your trials and tribulations, it just makes me feel okay to not be perfect. It is so nice to have you around!
Very true my friend and very well done.
I hope to dance on that stage sometime soon.
XO,
PB
Janet- Thanks! This was a fun one!

The both of you did such a great job in your posts ... I feel pressure!
Can I say "ditto?"
I'm afraid mine might be all dorky!! Okayyy... I promise to start figuring it out real soon.
Extremely good post Queen! All of it very true and very, very real.
Nice job on it! :)
Great post, I can totally relate to everything you said. That must make me a real mom, right? So, if I am a real mom, then I accept the tag. However, I don't know how I can possible say anything more! It will take some thinking!
Very nicely done!
Oh yes...that's the list! Excellent description of real moms!
Isn't that the crux of it--the agony and the ecstacy! I love being a mom like I've never loved anything else, but sometimes I wish the little boogers would just GO AWAY!!!
enjoyed reading your blog - I mentioned you today on mine - take care:)
LOVE IT! Good work!
I know right...don't ya just feel like your wearing a red cap under your clothes...Moms unite...
besides I get a lot of pleasure out of making my son cringe when I drop him off at school in my house coat, rollers and green face mask..yep he will never forget how much I love him...
I saw your link on eastoforegon - wanted to stop and say hello :)
And as far as insistence at a locked door - I think my cats are giving me some good practice for future motherhood :)
That was darling
I may have to do this one too.. I just now got around to posting why I blog.. But, I wouldn't say that I procratinate.. Not today anyway.. Maybe tomorrow..
Amen!
sitting with girlfriends, having a cocktail in your living rom... not being interrupted by wailing kids. well goodbye to that for 18 yrs. You have to leave the house (alone) and meet girlfriends to get true peace.
But then enter the cellphone. goodbye to peace.
Amen!
My meme is up! Thanks for the tag!
Very very true
Love it, thats so cool.
"Real moms struggle with guilt, uncertainty, and sometimes fear when it comes to making the tough decisions about their children."
You nailed it... and it gets so much worse when they're 14 and speak like normal people. The manipulation skills are just so, so refined by then. Ug!
Although I have never once longed for a single day before my children, this was perfect. I have 3 kiddo's, 5 and under.... enough said right?
Right :)
Your blogs have become my short story reading material. Lol
Now that's a good game!
Best wishes
I haven't forgotten this by the way! I've been trying to get a video uploaded to YouTube to go with it. No luck thus far. :(
All those things!
Just ran across your post and totally loved it! True, true, true!
